GENCON 94 Clause 6 — Laytime
Clause 6 sets the time allowed for loading and discharging and the days basis the parties choose: which days count, and whether weather that prevents work stops the clock. LayGrounded counts laytime from commencement to the completion of cargo operations on that basis, and under rule set 3 cites Clause 6 for time counted, for a Sunday or holiday excepted or worked, and for weather excluded on a weather-working-days basis. By default laytime commences once the agreed turn time after the notice of readiness has run (the notice itself is Clause 6(c)). LayGrounded starts from the notice logged in the Statement of Facts: it does not test whether the vessel was ready or the notice valid, which a person must check.
