AMWELSH 93 Clause 6(a) — Notice of Readiness, and when laytime starts
Clause 6(a) limits when the notice may be given: 08.00 to 17.00 on weekdays and 08.00 to noon on Saturdays, in the port's local time. Laytime then starts a set number of hours after the notice. The form prints 12 and leaves room for the parties to write their own figure, so LayGrounded takes the hours from the agreed terms and starts a new claim on 12. The form does not say what becomes of a notice given outside its hours. LayGrounded does not treat it as void: it takes effect when the hours next open, which is how the Court of Appeal read a clause of the same shape in The Petr Schmidt [1998] 2 Lloyd's Rep 1.
